Surrey Farmer’s Markets are Opening Soon!

Surrey farmer’s markets opening means good times are right around the corner!

Summer is right around the corner for the Lower Mainland and that means it’s almost farmers market season. We are fortunate to have at least 1 major farmer’s market in every city in the Greater Vancouver area, from Surrey to Coquitlam, and that means good, fresh eating all summer long.

We’ve put together this infographic to guide you in your farmer’s market quests this summer. You’ll see on the map, some of the markets sell more than just fruits and vegetables. Many of these markets have food stands where you can find all kinds of specialty dishes. Local artists post up and share their goods and you can find fresh fish and local meats as well.

Why check out the farmer’s markets?

Farmer’s markets are fun for everyone. It isn’t just food; there are often games, arts and crafts and events going on. But the value doesn’t stop there. By going to farmer’s markets, you can:

  • Eat fresher, better tasting and healthier products,
  • Build ties within your community your neighbors,
  • Meet the people who grow your food,
  • Support our ecosystem and humane treatment of animals,
  • Reduce your impact on the environment by choosing products that travel less distance

Surrey has a number of farmer’s markets, but the most prominent is the Surrey Urban Farmer’s Market. They open June 7th and they are accepting applications for vendors now!

Check it out this summer. Buy local, support your local economy and eat better while doing it. What else could you want?

Big thanks to Ritz Catering, our local caterers in Surrey, for putting together the infographic. #supportlocal
