CONTEST! BC Blueberries Perfect for Summer Recipes & U-Pick Adventures

CONTEST! BC Blueberries Perfect for Summer Recipes & U-Pick Adventures

Growing up, family road trips to explore BC meant looking out the windows at all the farms. There was always the excitement of stopping to grab a box of straight from the bush, BC blueberries from a local farm. Even more fun was stopping at a u-pick farm to pick our own blueberries! Half would be gobbled up in the car and wouldn’t make it home. But the ones that did became blueberry muffins with a side of chai. Now, with summer in full swing, those delicious BC blueberries have made a re-appearance. You can’t beat the sweetness of nature’s candy. And even though you can buy them frozen year round, nothing beats the fresh ones that come with the summer sun.

Delightful and fresh, blueberries are one of our favourite summer snacks, and we like the health benefits that come with them even more! Blueberries are filled with antioxidants, low in calories, contain vitamins A, C, and E, and have fibre! According to the BC Blueberry Council, eating one cup of blueberries everyday can help prevent and treat diabetes, heart disease, strokes, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease! Anything that tastes that good and has that many benefits is a win in our books!

While it’s super easy to get great BC blueberries from the grocery store, you can also visit a local u-pick farm and pick your own perfect berries! Going to a U-pick farm is a great way to meet and supports the local farmers, plus it’s a great summer activity to do with friends and family. We think picking them ourselves makes them taste even better (if that’s even possible!)

What are you waiting for? Check out the list of u-pick farms from BC Blueberry and head out! www.bcblueberry.com

Once you’ve had your fill of picking the berries, here are some of our favorite recipes that you can try:

That’s not all, BC Blueberry Council is also giving away two amazing gift baskets, each one valued at $250.
