Seaside Shindig Sept 30 to Raise Funds For Community and the Arts Through the Power of Music

The Legion of Sound Community Arts Society is hosting a Seaside Shindig to raise funds to bring a series of local concerts to South Surrey-White Rock. This event will be held at the Star of the Sea Hall in White Rock and will feature a full Texas BBQ dinner by Railtown Catering, local craft beer, a full bar and three live bands plus a DJ.

Tickets are on sale for $60 each which includes dinner, two drinks as well as the live show. Headlining the lineup for the Seaside Shindig is the Vancouver based Coco Jafro. Coco Jafro’s dynamic combination of sounds, energy and performance appeals to all ages, providing a mix of unique sounds combining jazz, reggae, funk and more. With the powerful voice of Karina Morin and an incredibly talented lineup, this band delivers a positive vibe and sound that never falters.

Local indie band the Escapes will also play. This band of five from South Surrey White Rock have been making a name for themselves with several live local shows over the past year, including two shows at Ocean Park Hall that brought in over 100 music fans.

Legion of Sound is a Provincial B.C. registered charity focused on music development funding programs that provides emerging artists, and concert support workers with fair wages and brings live music programming to communities across B.C. at a fair price and on a consistent basis.

These shows will feature “indie” or developing artists. In addition to supporting these artists, this initiative will generate local economic and cultural growth in our area. Legion of Sound had a great first year with a series of concerts on the peninsula. Now they are kicking it all off again with the Seaside Shindig to help raise funds to pay for bands, technicians, hall costs, insurance costs and equipment rentals.

This event has already garnered a lot of support including main sponsors Railtown Catering, White Rock Beach Beer Company, HomeLife Benchmark Realty Corp. and Forge Properties. Tickets are available throughout South Surrey and White Rock at retail community partner locations as well as online.

Legion of Sound is inviting everyone to come out and have a great time, eat, drink and be merry. All proceeds from this event will fund shows throughout the year at community halls on the peninsula at a fair price and provide living wages to artists and support workers who help make things happen in live music.

Corporate tables and sponsorship opportunities are available for the fundraiser and for single shows during the season. For event updates and full ticket information including where to buy visit
