City Dream Centre – From the Ground Up

I know you have heard about the new mobile dental units that are going to be on the street this fall. These moving dentist offices will be available to support the health of marginalized people.

Dental care is one of the struggles that families struggling with poverty often simply can’t afford and yet dental health is one of the most important preventative measures one can take for over all health and longevity. Good dental care for children is an absolute necessity. Some families face obstacles that make it difficult to seek out that care for themselves. Sometimes it just needs to come to them and City Dream Centre is rolling this out to meet that need.

That’s not all they do.

Under their Adopt-school program, they provide 3000 wrapped Christmas gifts each year. They operate a Girls Club and Boys Club Noon Hour Programs to help equip at risk kids to reject gangs and traffickers. They have new and used clothing events to assist parents operating below the poverty line to survive.

City Dream Centre works in partnership to provide weekly food programs but also has weekend support for family suffering from food security issues. Another support for parents is the GED, ESL, Recovery, Parenting and Boundaries courses.

This is one busy charity. They understand that many families are run by single parents who need unique support and they offer solo parent events. These events are designed to pamper and support solo parents. They include haircuts, manicures, clothing, high tea, oil changes and car washes. Fun kids’ activities and child-minding ensure every parent can relax and enjoy.

And there’s more… they give bikes away. A bike helps kids overcome lack of transportation barriers. The school board reports a positive impact on attendance, academic outcomes and overall success when kids receive a bike. Now I know what you are thinking… how can meet these amazing people? What can I do to help?

You can volunteer

You can come and party with us. On Sunday September 24, 2017 City Dream Centre is hosting a long table event at the Chilliwack Corn Maze. This event is a fundraiser and tickets must be purchased in advance at https://citydreamcentre.com/upcoming-events/ and a great family activity. The tickets are $125.00 and will include a gourmet farm to table dinner & live entertainment. An artisan market & live auction will take place with all proceeds going towards training and support programs in the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver area. Join us, September 24th at 6:30 at the Chilliwack Corn Maze at 41905 Yale Road West, Chilliwack, BC, V2R 4J4.

Come meet some like-minded people who do more than just talk about how much they care they actually step up and do something about it. If you don’t know anybody, find me. I will introduce you to all your new friends. See you on Sunday the 24th at this change-our-community event.
