Even worse, she has fallen in love with a human prince she rescued from a terrible storm! Calypso is determined to find a way to be with her love, even if it means leaving the sea and making a deal with evil Ursula. To top it off, Prince Airwick has his own troubles, with an overbearing mother and two scheming ministers out to skim the royal treasury for as much as they can take. Campground: A Murder Mystery in the Woods

Audience advisory: mature themes and strong language

Running time: approximately 2 hours, including intermission

When a young man goes missing from a provincial campground while on a personal journey to discover himself, an overzealous and somewhat inexperienced RCMP officer takes on the case. He must use clues from smartphone videos and Facebook posts—projected on a screen so the audience can follow along—plus his powers of deduction based on interviews with the key suspects to piecing together what might have happened over one crazy weekend. Was there foul play? More importantly, did someone remember to bring toilet paper? One thing is certain, none of their lives will ever be the same. Lucas Myers (Deck, Hello Baby) brings observational humor, brilliant character work, and quirky songs to his newest solo show—you won’t have to talk yourself off the couch for this one!

Artist Talk with Sean Alward

Sean Alward is a painter and photographer. He received his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and MFA from the University of British Columbia. Since 2002, he has exhibited in solo and group shows at numerous galleries across the Lower Mainland. Inspired by the indigenous plants growing in “The Grove” beside Newton Recreation Centre, artist Sean Alward’s Fern Façade invites us to rediscover our natural environment. Fabricated from frit glass, the design is highly functional, helping to maintain and moderate the temperature of the building by filtering sunlight as well as reduce bird-window collisions.
