BitterGirl: The Musical – Charming, Witty, and Oh So Relatable

Who knew getting dumped could be so much fun? That is, fun for the audience. Maybe not always so fun for the characters who are so relatable in their story. BitterGirl takes us through just a snippet of the lives of three young ladies: that is, starting from the exact moment their significant others decide to leave them, and follows them through their journey back to finding happiness. Each of the three ladies – wonderfully depicted by Lauren Bowler, Katrina Reynolds, and Cailin Stadnyk – depicts a unique personality (and as such; unique dating, coping, and comeback styles). But...

A Virtual March Through Surrey to Spread Positivity

On Friday January 20th, a group of protestors virtually marched across the city of Surrey, spreading positive messages of peace, compassion, and unity. Who were these marchers? Well, they’re about an inch tall, and made of hard yellow plastic. They may be small but they have a big message to share. “We wanted to do something on the day of the inauguration,” said march-organizer David Dalley, “we used that day to focus our energy.” But while the march landed on the same day as the inauguration of the 45th president of the United State, it wasn’t intended as a...

Vancouver a Potential New Home for Women’s Soccer

While, for now, these are just rumors – the Canadian soccer world is in a frenzy with hopes that we could soon have a women’s team representing Canada in the National Women’s Soccer League. “It’s something that has been discussed”, said Vancouver Whitecaps President, Bob Lenarduzzi at the end-of-season awards in October when asked about bringing a NWSL team to Vancouver. His words are being clung onto desperately by local soccer fans, particularly those who remember watching the former Vancouver Whitecaps FC, a ladies team who represented the ‘Caps while playing at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby until the team’s...

Surrey Home Assessments See Sharp Rise – But Taxes May Not Follow Suit

A tingling sense of panic spread across the city as homeowners began to receive their property assessments in the mail last week. After a year of housing market chaos, the market is just now cooling off thanks to both the new season and some recent government changes to the market’s infrastructure. Take a moment, though, to think back to July – the sun was out, the skies were blue, and that run-down rancher down the road sold for $200,000 over asking price in a no-strings-attached bidding war. It was during that time that BC Assessment cut off it’s appraising...
