[EVENT] OpenRoad Mazda inaugurates new facility with VIP Grand Opening ceremony

March 14, 2014 – The OpenRoad Auto Group officially opened its brand new Mazda dealership in Port Moody on Friday night with an exclusive Grand Opening ceremony.

This new facility, located at 3170 St. John’s Street, is significantly larger than the old West Coast Mazda dealership that used to be in the same location.

OpenRoad’s President Christian Chia explained, “This dealership was designed from the ground up with its guests in mind. Our flagship store offers more comfortable facilities and a better customer experience”.

Mr. Akira Marumoto, Executive Vice President of Mazda Motors Corporation (from Hiroshima, Japan), and Mr. Kory Koreeda, President of Mazda Canada Inc. were also present for the ceremony.

“This is a world-class showroom, one of the best in the world. This investment couldn’t come at a better time because Mazda has been very aggressive in introducing new models, represented by Kodo Design and SKYACTIV technology”.

“I am not allowed to talked about future products”, joked Mr. Koreeda, “but there is more coming! Over the next couple of years you will continue to see even better, even more exciting products. So to the existing customers out there, please stay with us”.

Mr. Koreeda also discussed how great products are not just the measure of success at Mazda Canada, and how the customer experience was equally important.

“Christian and his group are one of the benchmarks in our network, which is why we have him as a member of our advisory board to continue to improve our customer experience”, said Mr. Koreeda.

In addition to enjoying performance from the Japanese Taiko drummers, the Sapporo beer, and the amazing spread of Japanese food from world-renowned Tojo’s Restaurant, Hapa Izakaya, and Uzume Taiko, guests were also invited to a top to bottom tour of the new building.

It is during the tour where it’s not difficult to see what the Mazda executives were on about. Along with the spacious showroom floor, there is also an equally impressive service department downstairs.

Mazda rotary-engine fans will be delighted to see the subtle rotor-shaped cutouts around the dealership, a throwback to the Wankel engine design in the Mazda RX-7 and RX-8 sports cars.

Customers no longer have to park their vehicles when they arrive for maintenance at OpenRoad Mazda. They simply have to pull into the covered garage area where their vehicles will be handed off to service advisors.

The service bay area is equally impressive, with state-of-the art in-floor hydraulic vehicle lifts, and the latest tire balancing and alignment equipment from Hunter. Even the automated car wash system, dubbed the OpenRoad Mazda vehicle spa, is also the latest and greatest in the industry.

“Mazda is proud to be a part of this [Port Moody] community, and I would like to congratulate OpenRoad for this world-class facility. Tonight’s event shows your commitment to the community, the special value of your customers, and your engagement with Mazda. On behalf of Mazda’s Motor Corporation, I look forward to a strong future working together”, said Mr. Akira Marumoto, Executive Vice President of Mazda Motors Corporation.
