Local Food Comes to Surrey City Hall

Surrey Urban Farmer's Market Beets

Are you looking for great events to attend in your community this summer? Stop by the Surrey Urban Farmers Market every Wednesday, 12pm-5pm starting June 11th at Surrey City Hall Plaza!

“We are really excited to be at Surrey City Hall Plaza this year,” says Emily Atkinson, Market Manager. This will be the market’s first season at the recently constructed Plaza, just outside Surrey City Hall. “While there is still work to be done on the Plaza, the extra space has allowed us to recruit more vendors and really grow the market this year,” Ms. Atkinson explains. The market will include a wide variety of food trucks as well as vendors selling produce, meat, prepared foods, baked goods, crafts and more.

To add to the fun atmosphere at the market, monthly features including chef demonstrations, art displays and local vendor showcases are planned. “Along with supporting local farmers, we also want to promote local talent right here in Surrey,” explains Laurie Mercer, Board Member. “We have a lot to be proud of in our city.” These monthly features will complement the children’s activities and music that shoppers have enjoyed at previous markets, and help to support the market as a unique community gathering place for Surrey residents and visitors. Shoppers can meet and learn from local food producers and farmers, benefit from buying fresh, local, nutritious food, and discover local artistic talent. See you there!
