Celebrating Surrey’s Tree Lighting Festival 2014

Celebrating Surrey's Tree Lighting Festival

It was an absolutely spectacular Saturday afternoon and evening as I had the opportunity to attend Surrey’s Tree Lighting Festival. This year the ceremony and festivities took place in its new location, the world class City Hall Plaza. This year’s tree lighting was truly special as it attracted 1000s of people and young families from all across the city and lower mainland.

This year’s special guests Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were joined on stage by Pop sensation Alyssa Reid, Surrey’s elected officials and many more…. There was storyville, a road hockey zone, a mini Christmas train, a Ferris wheel, Christmas carolling and much, much more!

You even had the opportunity to write a letter to Santa Claus and send it via Canada Post and the World’s largest mailbox! Surrey604 went behind the scenes with Santa Claus, participated in Arts and Crafts and joined Checo Tohomaso and the Sweet Soul Gospel Choir in celebrating the diversity of Surrey and the sounds of Christmas. If you missed this year’s tree lighting, don’t worry you can still admire Surrey’s Christmas Tree at Surrey City Hall Plaza until the end of the year!
