Q & A with multiple Award Winning Photographer David Naman


With an eye for the details that turn a simple photo in to a story, David Naman has been breaking new ground with his camera since 2005.

Though formally trained, he has never stopped self-educating; experimenting, studying, and practicing. The results speak for themselves. Images that capture each unique body, highlighting the curves and individuality of each subject.

Q & A with David Naman

Surrey604: What inspired you to leave the business world behind and jump into photography?

Naman: I had many people around me tell me that I had a great eye for photography and I should pursue it. I didn’t think much of it at the time but … my other half had bought me a beginner photography class for my birthday! After my first class everything changed! I had found my passion!!

Surrey604: You have traveled around the world and won many awards. What does that feel like? Any highlights you would like to share with us?

Naman: While I was heading to the International Photography Award Gala in Austria … I started to get emotional ..thinking of how far I have come! I was in the presence of some of the world’s top photographers, and having won a Gold Metal!! It was surreal!!

Surrey604: You have shot quite a few personalities locally as well as a lot of art work. Is there a particular shoot that stands out more than others?

Naman: Its hard for me to choose as I look for something special in each subject to shoot! But if I had to choose …. I would say the experience of shooting with black light and the transformation of color.

Surrey604: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Naman: I see myself doing much more elaborate photoshoots and have my work in more international shows!

Surrey604: Who are you favourite photographers?

Naman: There so many amazing photographers that it would be very hard to select one.

Naman: If you’re trying to do this as a business … you need to be original and outstanding. You need blaze your own path!!! There is a lot of talent out there!
