Acclaimed Jazz Artist Denzal Sinclaire Headlines Gala, July 11th
For the first time ever, Surrey Libraries is holding a gala event to raise money for its important literacy programs. The Surrey Soirée will take place in the Surrey City Centre Plaza on the evening of Saturday, July 11th, 2015, and features acclaimed jazz artist and BC Entertainment Hall of Fame member Denzal Sinclaire.
The Soirée’s all-white theme will transform the plaza into a place of enchantment for this evening in support of literacy. Gala guests will enjoy an elegant three-course gourmet dinner while listening to the music of the Brandenburg Strings Quartet. Under sparkling lights and white tents, Savoury City chef Donna Wadsworth and her team will present a delectable meal featuring the finest local ingredients and fresh, sustainably grown produce.
Following dinner, the Denzal Sinclaire Trio takes to the stage. Named by Jazz Report as Best Male Jazz Vocalist four times, Sinclaire will be joined by Joel Fountain on drums and Adam Thomas on bass for a special performance in support of Surrey Libraries. Later in the evening, popular local blues band Agent C and Top Secret will help guests swing the night away.
Through the generous gift of Central City Shopping Centre, Soirée guests can enter a raffle to win a cruise to the Caribbean for two people.
All monies raised go to support Surrey Libraries’ Literacy for Life campaign. Last year alone, the Library provided much-needed literacy programs for more than 150-thousand children and adults, including Early Literacy, Workplace Literacy, Diversity/Multicultural programming and Read-Ability Services.
