The Surrey Museum is hosting Museum After Dark on Thursday, November 19, a unique event inviting guests into the vault, and to enjoy local wine, tapas and good company. Featuring a Dark Things theme, the evening will begin with an introduction from the Collections Curator, followed by an exclusive guided tour of the vault and small display of rare and unusual dark artifacts, such as demon masks, noir fashions and art made of human hair.
Museum After Dark, a new event for the Museum , is an opportunity for adults to experience the museum in a unique way. Guests will also take part onsite in the popular Twitter game Guess the Artifact and then have a rare opportunity to explore the museum galleries at night at their leisure.
“This is an opportunity for people to relax and enjoy culture and heritage in a fun and interesting way,” explains Lynn Saffery, Museum Manager. “It is a night out where adults can socialize, enjoy local wine and appetizers, and check out some very unusual items from our collection.”
As the event will portray, the Surrey Museum’s vault does in fact contain many rare and unexpected items. “I was excited to draw from the dark things in the collection,” tells Lana Panko, Collections Curator.
“These special dark artifacts rarely have a chance to be showcased as they should but once I started pulling these little gems for display, more almost lit up in hopes to join the dark collection.”
Backyard Vineyards will be onsite, providing a brief wine lecture and offering attendees a glass of their Nosey Neighbor white, red or bubbly. Additional glasses can be purchased for $5.
The event runs from 6:30 – 9:00pm and is 19years plus. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance at 604.592.6956 or here with code 4420585 . The Surrey Museum is located at 17710-56A Avenue, Surrey, BC.
