Top 10 Places to Work in B.C.

Top 10 Places to Work in B.C.

Looking for a job? Well than you better head up to the Sea to Sky. According to a report from BC Business, Squamish ranked as the number one place to work in B.C., moving up three spots since last year.

These are the top ten places to work in BC.

  1. Squamish
  2. Fort St. John
  3. Dawson Creek
  4. Kelowna
  5. Langley
  6. Terrace
  7. Pitt Meadows
  8. Kamloops
  9. North Vancouver
  10. Delta

The report looks at income per family, expenses and amount spent on recreational activity. In Squamish, the average households brings in $105,000 annually. And the average household income for people under 35 is approximately $80,000. The report also shows that folks in in Squamish spend $6,000 per year on recreational activity, and the unemployment rate is a low 5.3%.

Unfortunately, Surrey did not make the cut for this year’s top ten. It dropped six points from last year’s report to number 13. Although Surrey’s unemployment rate is only 5.3%, the expected population growth of 7.25% paired with expensive living can be blamed for the drop.

In the next five years, Squamish is projected to increase its population by an impressive 19.49%. With this anticipated increase, real-estate is booming. New developments are going up everyday including a new condominium located right downtown.
