Growing Herbs in Containers

Growing Herbs in Containers

Pots and containers serve well for the gardening enthusiasts who do not have a spacious backyard. You can get started with pots or old buckets or wooden boxes. Consider starting this season with growing herbs to get more out of the gardening experience!

Herbs are compact and easy to grow in a small space. Their flowers and foliage can add great beauty to your garden and great flavour to your cooking. Try growing some mint, oregano, rosemary, sage, thyme or parsley. Herbs such as Basil, Chives which are extra sensitive to the cold can be grown in pots indoors too.

The herb plants will need consistent and sufficient watering especially during the hot sunny hours. It is advisable to buy suitable potting soil or peat moss. Another important tip is to water the container thoroughly before planting and to always check that the excess water is able to drain out from the container. It is a good idea to harvest the leaves frequently for healthier plants.
