As the weather warms up in the Lower Mainland, just in time for spring, Trading Post Brewing Company has announced that they are to host the first annual Fort Langley Beer & Food Festival. Trading Post Brewing Company, located in the heart of Fort Langley, and was born out of a passion for great beer and the desire to serve the community they call home. The festival will feature live music, great local food and craft beer from around the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
Fort Langley a small community located along the mighty Fraser River was one of the original trading posts for The Hudson Bay Company. This community is rich in history being the birthplace of British Columbia in 1858. International fur traders, First Nations, and even Hawaiians converged on this spot 190 years ago forming what is now known as Fort Langley. Fort Langley is now full of quaint shops, great restaurants and historic sites, making Fort Langley the perfect location for the Lower-Mainland’s newest Festival.
“‘Tap Into the Local’ is our slogan! We are bringing the brewing community together, we are bringing the local food producer and restaurant community together, we are bringing the Fort Langley, Greater Langley and even the Lower Mainland community together in a fun-filled place where relationships are built,” says Lance Verhoeff, co-founder and general manager of Trading Post.
All proceeds for the festival will benefit the Brewing Lab scholarship at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Brewing Lab. The scholarship was created by Trading Post and named after John Mitchell, who is considered the grandfather of craft beer in Canada.
The Festival will host over 20 local breweries as well as 20 local food vendors. The Fort Langley Beer & Food Festival will be held on May 20th from 12pm-5pm.
