Diwali Downtown Surrey

Diwali Downtown features the best of contemporary and classical Indian culture with performances, rangoli, and an Indian-style bazaar (marketplace) featuring South Asian crafts and food. This year’s event welcomes various artists to showcase unity in diversity, with performances by Karima Essa & Aashritha Royyurn. You’ll find information about other artists and programming on the Diwali Fest website.

Unveiling of Fern Facade and Meet Sean Alward

A new public artwork graces the windows of the Newton Recreation Centre expansion. Celebrate the unveiling of Fern Façade by Sean Alward as part of the grand re-opening of the facility on Saturday, September 30. The artist will be in attendance and you’ll have a chance to meet and chat with him.

About the Artist: Sean Alward is a painter and photographer. He received his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and MFA from the University of British Columbia. Since 2002, he has exhibited in solo and group shows at numerous galleries across the Lower Mainland.

School’s Out Activities

Although class just started, school’s out on Monday, September 25! Plan ahead and keep your kids active and busy for the day. There will be variety of ways to keep kids entertained with the city-wide School’s Out Fun Zone, activities at our pools and arenas, or a Discovery Day at Surrey Nature Centre.

Classical Coffee Concert: PianOpera

Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann—known worldwide as the Bergmann Piano Duo—perform duet arrangements of favourite operatic repertoire ranging from Mozart’s Magic Flute and Rossini’s Barber of Seville to Liszt’s virtuosic fantasy of Bellini’s Sonnambula.

The concert takes place after a social hour with coffee, tea, and delicious goodies.

Culture Days in Surrey

Culture Days is a Canada-wide volunteer movement to raise awareness, accessibility, participation, and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. The Construction Expo Fall 2017

After the Grand success of our first construction expo held March 11 to 12, 2017 we are holding the next event this fall at the Cloverdale Agriplex. We will be presenting new products, services, technology and innovative ideas – all under one roof.

We invite architects, tradesmen, builders, contractors, designers, renovators, engineers, developers and real estate companies to come check it out. Industry leaders are all set to display products and services at this giant expo with many more businesses still signing up.

It will be a not-to-miss hub for leading construction professionals to meet and build strong relationships.

Join us as we create a portrait of our community. Built of individual cardboard discs, each link tells the story of someone’s personal passion. Seen as a whole, this tower tells the story of a dynamic and vibrant community.

We are taking inspiration from Terry Fox’s life of service and dedication to reflect. How we can use our passions to serve those around us? Aloha Polynesia

This dynamic performance features colorful costumes, inspiring music (including ukulele), and graceful dances from the islands of Hawai’i, Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa, and Fiji performed by dancers ages 4 to 94. Net proceeds will be donated to the ALS (Lou Gehrig) Society, Doctors without Borders, Operation Smile, and Union Gospel Mission’s Christmas Dinner for the Homeless.

Time: 1:30 pm: Doors open—it’s general seating so you’re encouraged to arrive early to choose your seats
