(Vancouver, BC) | During the opening gala on Monday September 18, Vancouver Fashion Week presents the 2017 Industry Originator Awards. Started in 2015, the awards recognize veterans of the Vancouver fashion industry who have contributed to the advancement of the local market. The nominees and winners have worked endlessly to develop their own success and have helped newcomers in the industry along the way.

Past winners and the fashion industry at large determined this year’s nominees. Then a panel of judges including VFW founder Jamal Abdourahman, Fashion Capsule’s Sarah Murray, Apparel Camp’s Vanessa Fors, VFW Ambassador Extraordinaire Marilyn Wilson, owner of JC Institute Jim Falconer, and Retailer Plum Clothing voted on the winners. For 2017 we are excited to present awards to entrepreneur Chip Wilson, local designer RozeMerie Cuevas of JAC, and City Councillor Andrea Reimer.
