The City Of Surrey Wants YOUR Input On Parks, Recreation And Culture!

The City Of Surrey Wants YOUR Input On Parks, Recreation And Culture!

There’s a really good reason why Surrey is also known as The City of Parks. A drive from the North end to the South end, and stretching East and West, will reveal countless options for picnics, swims, strolls, bird-watching, bike riding, and more. In addition to outdoor green spaces to roam we also have facilities for indoor sports, fitness and leisure activities. We’re a city that likes to move and stay active, and we have so much at our disposal to support that!

Did you know…

  • Surrey has 852 parks with 58 acres of new parkland added in 2017?
  • There were over 3 million visits to parks, recreation and culture facilities?
  • The city hosted over 172 sport tournaments across the city in 2017 – including 12 international, 4 national events and 11 provincial events?

In addition to the parks and recreation facilities, we have a vibrant community that makes up our arts and culture scene, bringing us entertainment and thought leadership. All of these important elements come together under one umbrella: Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC). The PRC Department of The City of Surrey is focused on addressing our needs as a growing, diverse population and taking us into the next decade with a new PRC Strategic Plan.

Over the past 7 months, the PRC Department has gathered input from thousands of community groups and residents to devise a plan for its facilities, services and programs. They now need YOUR input on the draft of this plan! Because it’s YOUR city and you know best what you need.

Your input will help the City decide what needs to be created or improved on, and where to put money and resources. If you haven’t already had your say, don’t miss this opportunity.

How You Can Have Your Voice Heard

Take the survey online. By answering these questions, you can provide the City with valuable information. You also have a chance to win a $500 shopping spree to Guildford Town Centre just by taking a few minutes to complete the survey!

Attend the final open house on Thursday November 9 from 5-8 pm at the Surrey Arts Centre. This is an opportunity to take a look at the draft and have a discussion with the City. Before you go, you can see the information they have already gathered at previous open houses in this easy-to-read Summary of Community Engagement.

We’re lucky to live in Surrey for so many reasons – our amazing parks, recreation facilities and cultural events are some of them. Being able to have our say in the decisions that surround these resources is another reason to feel fortunate.
