Daisy & The Gumboot Kids premieres on CBC

Daisy & The Gumboot Kids premieres on CBC

Locally produced web series, Daisy & The Gumboot Kids, premieres online at this Thursday. The series is a spin-off of the award-winning television series, Scout & The Gumboot Kids, which is recommended by the Parents’ Choice Awards and was recently named a finalist for the international children’s media award – Prix Jeunesse.

Each episode, Daisy makes a nature craft, such as Willow Wreaths or Bird Cookies. Inspired by objects in nature, the crafts are low-cost and easy to make using objects found outside or around the house, making it an easy activity for parents to do with their pre-schoolers. Downloadable instructions are also available online for those parents who may be a little craft-challenged. For additional learning opportunities, each Daisy episode also ties in with an episode of Scout & the Gumboot Kids, so pre-schoolers can have fun with their crafts and learn about nature at the same time.

The series is the brainchild of local Producers, Eric Hogan and Tara Hungerford. “My kids always loved going outside and my daughter especially enjoys crafting, so it just made sense to create a series that combined their love of both together.” says Hungerford, the show’s co-Writer / Director and mother of two. “We’re excited to announce the premiere of Daisy & The Gumboot Kids,” states Hogan, “And are thrilled to be partnering with CBC Kids on bringing the series to Canadian families.”

The show is produced by Eric Hogan, Tara Hungerford and Tracey Mack, and features the voice of Ashleigh Ball (My Little Pony, Ready Jet Go, Barbie) and music from award-winning country singer, Jessie Farrell.

It reminded me of the Margaret Mead quote: ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the… read more ❯
