Who is Mauvey?

WATCH: Surrey604’s Summan Kandola sits down with Afro-trap superstar, Mauvey. Uncover this rising star’s creative process and world tour predictions.

In 2018, Ghanaian Born, U.K. raised and BC based song writer Mauvey will release – Love Therapy part 1 – his debut project, and embark on a multinational tour (also titled Love Therapy), taking his creative team to cities in Canada, the United States, U.K. and Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

The Love Therapy World Tour has been designed to distribute Love through narratives created by a blend of intentional song writing, intelligent melody, hypnotic beat and vibe.

Born in Ghana, West Africa, Mauvey has been influenced by artists like Michael Jackson, Sarkodie, and Oumou Sangaré. “West African artists are breaking ground with staggering efforts to introduce their unique sound to the world, it’s inspiring”, says Mauvey, who’s AfroTrap, Hip Hop and R&B style has also been influenced by artists like WizKid, Drake, SZA, Andre 3000 and NAO.

A passionate Mauvey says, “If my entire music career is a giant book about the rigours of Love, the ups, the downs, the highs and the complicated lows, I’d have done my job of distributing love”, he goes on to say, “I want to be clear about what I’m talking, singing and rapping about, no games, I don’t know everything, but I know that Love is everything, there’s no better subject”.

Mauvey’s powerful lyrical content is unashamed – he isn’t perfect, and he’s not trying to be. Love Therapy is his mission, not just his debut album or the follow up tour. The themes are not always black and white, at times, they’re a bit Mauvey.

Mauvey with special guest Jory, a Vancouver Based up and coming hip-hop artist focused on making music that is right at home being vulnerable and isn’t afraid to be unconventional. Having heavy influence from the L.A. area rap scene after living there for 7 years, this Vancouver artist can flow over a hard beat just as comfortably as dancing and singing over a vibey track.
