Simran Walia becomes a finalist for Tammy Moyer Woman Of Worth Award

Simran Walia who is a well known person within the South Asian Community, her active community work and initiatives have been seen by many for the past few years. An IT professional by profession, she has served on 2 committees in the City of Delta – Parks, recreation and Culture Committee and Seniors advisory sub-committee.

A Ladner Rotary member and one of the organizers of the first ever Pride Picnic in Delta, she also was one of the Candidates for Delta City Council in the Municipal Elections in 2018 representing TEAM DELTA. She has actively raised her voice against drug and gang violence consuming the lives of Canada’s future and now sits on the Advisory board of One Voice, a community effort to help address issues faced by International Students who choose Canada as the destination to study.

It is with no surprise that Simran was chosen as one of the finalists on February 23rd for Tammy Moyer Woman Of Worth Awards held by Woman of Worth to honor and celebrate all the extraordinary women who have broken barriers and shined through . The awards were held at The Sheraton Guildford Hotel located in Surrey BC.

The awards are named after Tammy Moyer in her memory, she was a morning anchor on News1130 and a passionate supporter of women’s causes and WOW. The awards also helps provide financial support to a Trust established for Tammy’s son.
