Porsche fans gather at Porsche Center Langley for debut of the latest generation of the Porsche 911 Carrera

Hundreds of Porsche owners and fans descended upon Porsche Centre Langley to witness the debut of the latest generation of Porsche’s most iconic sportscar – the Porsche 911 Carrera.

OpenRoad Auto Group CEO, Christian Chia and General Manager, Adam Ma officiated the unveiling of the timeless classic of the Porsche 911 Carrera, known as the Porsche 992 with a grand entrance of the vehicle driven by OpenRoad race car driver, Micheal Di Meo. This is the 8th generation of the 911 which comes in a range of models starting with the Porsche 911 Carrera to the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. Prices start at $111,000.

With the launch of the Porsche 992, Porsche has upgraded the 911 interior to strike an even finer balance between refinement and simplicity, including a few throwback styling cues to the classic 1950’s era 911. The Carrera specific model shares the interior with the previously introduced S models, which includes re-designed seats, the traditional centrally positioned tachometer, and the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a 10.9-inch touch screen.

When it comes to power, the Carrera models are equipped with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six, developing 379 hp at 6,500 rpm and 331 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,950 to 5,000 rpm and equipped with the standard 8-speed PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) transmission, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, or 3.8 seconds when equipped with the Sport Chrono Package, with a top speed of 180 MPH. Both times represent an improvement of 0.2 seconds compared to the previous 911 Carrera Coupe with the PDK transmission.

Styling of the new 911 is classic Porsche with rounded front headlamps and an updated rear which now features a stunning wraparound LED light bar. The only visual difference between the standard 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S/4S are the exhaust openings in the rear fascia. To distinguish between the engine variants, the standard 911 Carrera features one rectangular, single-tube tailpipe on each side, while the S models are fitted with a set of round twin-tailpipes on each side, additionally, the optional Sport Exhaust system is distinguished by two oval tailpipes which can be ordered for all models.
