PARTY ON THE BLOCK

Let’s celebrate the community coming together at Party on the Block on June 23rd, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Grab your wheels and roll on over for a fun afternoon. From 4pm to 7pm, City Parkway, the road between 106 Ave and 107a Ave, will be closed off for the celebration. There will be skate park demonstrations at the Chuck Bailey’s skateboarding park. Bring your bikes and ride along the bike safety track. All wheels are welcome. As well, Garage 529 will be set up to inform attendees on the importance of registering their bikes. Everyone will have the opportunity to be entered into a free raffle draw for a chance to win one of two bike sets. SIKH COMMUNITY HELPING FORT McMURRAY

See below for all locations for drop off this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 6th to 8th, the Sangat is encouraged to drop off donations at Sikh Organizations in Surrey for the Fort McMurray Relief Effort. Sikh Community of the Lower Mainland rallies together to assist Canadians displaced by wildfires in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Surrey, BC – We’ve all seen the devastating images from the wildfires in Fort McMurray, Alberta. All 80,000 inhabitants have been evacuated from their homes and some neighbourhoods have been completely destroyed. The Sikh Community prays for their strength, aid, and healing for the all those that have been and continue to be displaced and affected by these terrible events. The Sikh Community is collecting donations and much needed supplies at Lower Mainland Sikh Societies and Organizations and have made arrangements to send trucks with vital supplies to those in need in Alberta. Seeking Larson and/or Johnson Descendents in Metro Vancouver

Are you a Larson or Johnson? Do you know anybody that might be described below? An individual in Norway is seeking relatives and/or descendants in the Surrey, British Columbia area. Ansgar Johansen, born 26 Jan 1886, left Norway with his brother and moved to Minnesota to farm. Many of the Johansen family lived there. Before he left Norway, his girlfriend got pregnant and gave birth to a son called Arne Jentoft Johansen. In Minnesota , Ansgar married Inga Bertina Vinje, who was born October 5, 1889 in West Valley, Minnesota and died March 25, 1985 in Surrey, at age 95. She was the daughter of Mads Vinje and Marta (?) - both from Norway. Ansgar Johnson with daughter Marion. Ansgar changed his name to Johnson to sound more American. In around 1918 they emigrated to Manitoba, Canada. Later, at around 1930 he started fishing on the west coast. He died...

This April is Auto Crime Enforcement Month in B.C. and the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT), the Province of British Columbia and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) are encouraging vehicle owners to help protect their property and Don’t leave your keys for Thieves. Our roads and our communities are safer as a result of the outstanding work of the men and women of IMPACT, and I am thankful for their efforts, said Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Mike Morris.
