Sukh Johal

With a background in sales, security and real estate development, Sukh is a political strategist excelling in community organizing, fundraising and civic affairs. He enjoys performing and has appeared as a background performer in Hollywood productions. Sukh grew up on the tough streets of Dunoon, Scotland before moving to Canada at age 10 and brings a unique perspective to Surrey604. He speaks his mind, and believes social media can be a force for good. Sukh has been a control agent for President Obama’s Inaugural Celebration team in Washington DC and spoke on interfaith affairs at the White House. A member of the Surrey Board of Trade’s International Trade Team and Vancouver Board of Trade’s Company of Young Professionals, Sukh is also past President and current VP Public Relations of Surrey Civic Speechmeisters Toastmasters Club at City Hall and VP of the Multifaith Action Society of BC, an interfaith organization promoting grassroots diplomacy, cooperation and goodwill.

Highlights: 2015 Dolphin Classic Basketball Slam Dunk Contest

Every summer some of Canada's top basketball players get together to play in Richmond, BC at one of the top street ball tournaments in North America. That tournament is the Dolphin Classic. The Peace Arch monument is situated on the Canada - United States border between the communities of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia. The monument is built on the exact United States - Canada boundary and stands 67 feet tall. The 24th Surrey RCMP Basketball Classic was another showstopper with the finals taking place at Enver Creek Secondary School. The finals featured the Tamanawis Wildcats defeating the South Ridge Storm with a final score of 73-65. The Tamanawis Senior Boys have now won Back-to-Back championships at the prestigious RCMP Classic. The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament was Hunter Hughes of the 2nd place South Ridge Storm who finished the final game with 30 points and 22 rebounds. The Surrey RCMP Basketball Classic is a high school basketball tournament that has been taking place in Surrey since 1992.
