Pedro Morales

Are the Whitecaps too reliant on Pedro Morales?

The Vancouver Whitecaps were agonisingly close to glory last season but were eliminated from the postseason at the Conference semi-finals stage of the road to the MLS Cup. This season, the defending Canadian Championship holders are attempting to go one better and compete for the first major title in franchise history. And with Pedro Morales - one of Vancouver's designated players and their top goalscorer so far this season - in fine form, they certainly stand a great chance of at least challenging the likes of FC Dallas, New York City FC and LA Galaxy for the United States' most prestigious soccer title. But are the Whitecaps over-reliant on their star striker? Well, that's up for discussion. They certainly wouldn't have finished second in the 2015 regular season without him - even though he missed a chunk of the campaign with hamstring problems. If truth be told, the Whitecaps can't compete with the MLS' top sides in terms of individual talent...
