Travel Ban Documentary EXTREME VETTING Looking to Film Family Reunions at Peace Arch Park

Peace Arch Park at the US-Canada border has become a place for families banned from entering the US to meet their loved ones.  The EXTREME VETTING team is hoping to film at least one of these family reunions for their documentary about the US travel ban, which largely impacts immigrants, refugees and visitors from the Muslim-majority countries: Iran, Somalia, Syria, Libya and Yemen. If you or anyone you know is planning a reunion at Peace Arch Park, the producers would love to coordinate with you.  There will be reimbursement of airfare within the US for our participant. All five of Surrey’s MPs contributed this year: John Aldag, Randeep Sarai, Ken Hardie, Sukh Dhaliwal, and Gordie Hogg. 2018 is the 18th year for SNAP, a partnership between the Green Timbers Heritage Society, the Sunnyside Acres Heritage Society, the White Rock and Surrey Naturalists and the City...

London Drugs offers a simple way for Surrey residents to responsibly recycle

Recycling Roundup Set to Divert more Waste from Surrey Landfill London Drugs is hosting a Recycling Roundup event this Saturday, May 12 at its Surrey locations. The event encourages Surrey residents to responsibly recycle old household goods at the end of their usable life, reducing the amount of waste going to the landfill. “It is a great opportunity for spring cleaning. Residents can bring a variety of unwanted items for recycling rather than throwing them away,” says Tammy Pearce, Store Manager at the Cloverdale London Drugs location. “Together with the help of Surrey residents, we can divert thousands of pounds of materials from the landfill through this event.” The Surrey London Drugs locations recently celebrated a 94.4 per cent waste diversion rate through their own diligent in-store recycling strategies. Residents are invited to drop off any of the following items at the London Drugs located at London Station (10348 King George Highway), Cloverdale (17685 64th...

Simple, Easy Refueling for Disabled Drivers is now available in Surrey.

Filling up the car is one of the biggest challenges for drivers with mobility challenges. But its also a challenge for gas stations - as they are sometimes too busy to come out and help us fuel up, or they have only one person on staff at that time.  For the mobility challenged driver they don't know if a station can help until they arrive, which can mean driving from station to station to find one that can help. This is where the fuelService app comes in - it allows mobility challenged drivers to request service before they arrive at a gas station to see if they can help.  They get a confirmation, and can then arrive there safe in the knowledge that someone will come out and help them pump gas without having to honk their horn, or wave their arms, or wait for someone to notice them and...

Trinity Western University’s Production of SMASH, a British Comedy

Trinity Western University’s School of the Arts, Media and Culture (SAMC) presents the best-kept secret of British comedy, SMASH. This witty play is the ultimate face-off between Men and Women, Labour and Capital, Love and Idiocy. It follows the story of a misguided but charming socialist who gets more than he bargained for when he sets out to gather an army of revolutionaries… from a ladies’ college. Even socialists can be funny in this deliciously clever laugh-riot that crackles with political satire and romantic foibles. The show runs October 25 through November 5 at SAMC Theatre (TWU campus) 7600 Glover Road, Langley. Find tickets and more information at twu.ca/theatre...
