for a holiday season filled with tradition and conviviality

While visions of roasted brassicas danced in their heads… holiday dreams at Osteria Savio Volpe are made of the warmth and glow of the wood fire; the colour and flavour of the winter harvest from local farms; and the sweet indulgence of meyer lemon tarts, panettone and house made gelato in the traditional flavours of the season. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the holidays, take the time to enjoy these delicious moments spent with friends and loved ones while giving the greatest gift of all: time spent together.

From seasonal traditions like tortellini in brodo, typical of the Emilia-Romagna region, to twists on classics like grilled panettone with zabaglione, over the past four years, holiday feasting at Savio Volpe, named “Best Italian Restaurant” at the 2019 Vancouver Magazine Awards, has itself become a festive tradition.

While there can often be found a couple of seats at the bar or an early evening walk-in table in late November and December, the holidays historically book up early so plan your gathering sooner than later! As they say, “the more the merrier” and Savio Volpe’s epic tasting menu invites your group to give yourselves over to the chef to be spoiled with generous platters of fresh, hand made pasta; mouthwatering wood-fire grilled bistecca and taleggio-topped chops; and winter’s harvest of rainbow carrots, winter lettuces, chard and chicories, prepared in the osteria’s signature rustic Italian style and served alla famiglia. Wine aficionados will delight in the restaurant’s Gold medal-

winning wine list (2019 Vancouver International Wine Festival), inventively curated by Wine Director Shiva Reddy; and those with a sweet tooth will be treated to house made gelato in classic Christmas flavours like buttered rum, white chocolate & candy cane, gingerbread and hazelnut praline; and dairy-free sorbetto in meyer lemon, dark chocolate and apple cider.

About Savio Volpe

Opened in Vancouver’s Fraserhood neighbourhood in 2015, Osteria Savio Volpe is a restaurant styled after the classic osteria — featuring rustic fare in the Italian tradition of freshness and regionality, using ingredients gathered from the nearby lakes, oceans, farms and fields. Everything is prepared in the simplest, most flavourful way, with pasta handmade fresh every day – fatto a mano in casa – and meat, poultry and fish kissed by smoke over the wood-fired grill and rotisserie. The 75-seat osteria, which was named ‘Best New Restaurant’ at the 2017 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, also features a long list of friendly Italian wines and old-world coffee to inspire conversation and good cheer among friends, family and strangers alike. Above all else, Savio Volpe celebrates liveliness, warmth and hospitality. Saviovolpe.com
