Event Details

Please join us Sunday Nov 24th, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm for our 2nd annual Hopes & Dreams Toy and Food Drive at Aria Banquet Hall. Last year was a great success, with the help of my volunteers and everyone that donated we were able to help many families in need. This year again we are pleased to help bring smiles to children’s faces and help families in need. Please bring a "new" unwrapped toy and non-perishable food item to kick off this year’s toy drive benefiting Surrey Women’s Center, Ronald McDonald House BC and Vancouver Food Bank.
Bring the family and enjoy face painting, hot chocolate, snacks, a holiday dessert table, photo with Santa, and much, much more. With every donation you will be entered to win a raffle prize (one entry per family). Please come out and donate and spread joy! Click the link below to see highlights from last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J1qhcTHul8 Please note: No stuffed animals, toys or action figures with weapons or violent themes such as guns, knives, swords, or other projectiles; these toys will not be accepted. For information contact Alisha Janniff Walji 604.313.4837 or Email: info@alishajanniff.com Here is a little about who we be helping… Surrey Women’s Center is a non-profit organization providing help to families in need. They provide victims of violence of safe place to begin the healing process, offering range of crisis, court and counselling services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other forms of family violence. Ronald McDonald House has been providing accommodation for seriously ill children and their families when they must travel to Vancouver for their child’s major treatment. Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon cares for families of children whose health needs take them far from home and keeps families together in a home away from home, providing comfort, compassion, and a sense of community when they need it most. The Greater Vancouver Food Bank was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983 and has grown significantly in the three decades since then. We are fortunate to have been able to build many relationships over this period that we greatly respect and honour. Today the GVFB provides assistance to over 28,000 people weekly, 25% of our clients are children and youth, 35% are seniors. The needs of this community are met through multiple distribution locations, community kitchens, training workshops and partnerships with over 75 community agencies located in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and North Vancouver.
