Members of VPD's Odd Squad recently produced a 3 part educational documentary series that looks at the rise of the use of fentanyl in both recreational drug users and the addicted. The series also explores the impact on first responders and medical professionals, and the benefits to and challenges of treatment and recovery.
Please join us for our April luncheon where they will be giving us a presentation to help us better understand the fentanyl epidemic so prevalent in our communities today and for a discussion to talk about what we, as security providers and professionals, can be doing to help address the problem.
Odd Squad Productions is a charitable organization comprised of serving and retired police officers and volunteers, and is recognized as an international leader in the field of drug and gang education for youth. Their vision is to use reality-based film work, presentations, and peer-to-peer work to educate youth, encourage positive goal setting and healthy choices around risky behaviour, and to encourage youth to stay drug-free.
Odd Squad ascribes to the notion that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" and that drug prevention and education programs are a healthier and much more effective investment for youth than treatment. Using a unique combination of documentary films, presentations, peer-to-peer workshops, and judo based training, Odd Squad members strive to help guide today’s youth through difficult personal and social issues such as drug usage and addiction and gang recruitment.
