Please help us by advertising and promoting our event.
With all of the uncertainty with COVID-19, we wanted to create a campaign, so people could still have a way to support us and also stay active while in self-isolation, self-quarantine, or physical distancing.
With the outbreak of COVID-19 expected to continue into the summer, with no end in sight, our hospice society which relies on holding fundraising events has had to cancel all our events. This has meant a great loss in our organizational revenues. This reduction in funding has placed the operations and indeed the very existence of our Society and our programs in jeopardy. Because of this, the Surrey Hospice Society is making changes to the way that funding is achieved; we are trying to go virtual.
Surrey Hospice Society is a volunteer based, non-profit organization rooted in the community of Surrey, BC Canada. We provide a wide variety of services and programs - all free of charge - for those facing the end of their life, hospice and palliative care, as well as grief and bereavement support for adults, children and youth who have lost people they love.
We need your help to continue to offer these services and programs as the demand for us is higher than it has ever been and continues to grow daily in these challenging times.
HEART & SOLE : Virtual Hike for Hospice
Surrey Hospice Society is encouraging people to register for Heart and Sole a Virtual Hike for Hospice and to join together virtually for a 1km, 5km, 10km walk, run or bike ride. People can go to a nearby park, walk or ride on one of the beautiful paths and walking trails in your community, use a treadmill, stationary bike or even walk around your yard.
You can participate as a Virtual Hiker! A virtual Hike for Hospice will allow you to create your own Hike. Whether that's around your property at home, on a treadmill if you have one, or safely around your community. If you do choose to hike around your community, we ask that you please obey all signs and/or notices and also please practice physical distancing to protect yourself, and others, we are counting on you for imaginative ways to take the steps virtually. For the protection of everyone’s health and safety when walking, please follow the Public Health direction that it is important to maintain the recommended physical distance.
You will be able to reach out to friends and family using our forms and this fundraising page to collect donations. The hike this year is as much about mental health as it is about fundraising. Get people together virtually, and do something fun.
- Complete an individual Run or Hike in your own time & pace at any destination of your choice. Please be safe and follow all recommendations from our Chief Medical Officer that are in place currently.

JULY 2020–On July 24, Surrey Civic Theatres presents the FUSIONpresents Artist Showcase featuring Ranj Singh and Sami Ghawi. This performance is part of SCT’s newly launched Digital Stage, an initiative to support local artists and performers that audiences can enjoy from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
This lively and upbeat show will include an hour of original songs and classic rock and folk favourites from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, as the duo entertain you with their dancing guitars and harmony vocals. Tune in for an hour of live music streamed to the comfort of your own couch! These two good friends met at the 2018 Surrey Arts and Business Awards, and Sami was instantly mesmerized by Ranj's unique guitar style as well as his velvet voice.
FUSIONpresents, Ghawi’s company, manages the live entertainment at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel MIXT Lounge, and after hearing Ranj sing, he immediately booked him to perform there. This showcase will be the first time these two amazing artists perform a show together.
Ghawi, who has hosted the Sunday Night Jam at West Beach in White Rock for more than a decade, and is also a huge advocate for music and arts in Surrey, said he is thrilled to be a part of this new City of Surrey initiative. "I’m so grateful for this opportunity from the City of Surrey that gives artists the chance to perform and entertain the public.
Being offered a platform to perform and get paid when all our scheduled shows have been cancelled overnight is a huge blessing. I think audiences will enjoy an hour of quality entertainment that’s engaging, and one that’s also a community builder that brings us all together.
Shows like this are a window of connection, a way to enjoy company, music, and to communicate, which has high value for us all." Performing Arts Manager, Kent Gallie said, "Surrey Civic Theatres remains dedicated to providing the community with top quality performing arts presentations from the Digital Stage that they can enjoy in the safety and comfort of their own homes. We also continue to be committed to finding opportunities to support emerging and established local artists to continue to practice their craft professionally during this challenging time for all artists."
