Wetlands are an important yet underappreciated type of ecosystem on the landscape; they have often been called “wastelands”, but this is far from true! Wetlands help protect against climate change, are used by many wildlife, and are great places to explore by canoe to birdwatch, animal watch, and just enjoy nature. Wetlands are also culturally important to many people, including the Indigenous communities of Canada. Sadly, wetlands are being lost at a high rate; we’re still trying to figure out the effects of this loss. In this talk, we will show you how awesome wetlands can be and why, what’s causing them to disappear, and what BCWF is doing to protect them.
This workshop is a part of BC Wildlife Federation's summer subscription service, Camp Pass. Three lessons are released weekly along with engaging hands-on activities for kids of all ages. Plus, every week we'll have a live event like this one for your family to enjoy. For more information on Camp Pass, follow this link: https://buff.ly/2AiNmZg
