This show is part of SCT’s Digital Stage, launched in April this year as a way to support local and Canadian artists in performances that audiences can enjoy from the comfort and safety of their own homes. The Surrey City Orchestra is a local, professional orchestra, and this online performance will feature five members of the orchestra’s brass section, Mark D’Angelo (trumpet), Nick Robson (trumpet), Richard Mingus (French horn), Gregory Farrugia (trombone), and Andrew Poirier (bass trombone).
This brass quintet recorded their performance at the Surrey Sheraton Hotel and includes a selection of well-known music for people to enjoy including “The Barber of Seville”, “The Pink Panther” theme, “El Gato Montés”, the “Hockey Night in Canada Theme”, “St. Paul Suite”, and “Ave Maria”. Mingus, who recently retired from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra said, “It was wonderful to have a chance to make real music again, with real people, in real time, in the same place!”
