*This workshop is for South Asian girls ages 14 * What does being a brown girl mean to you? This workshop will explore themes of gender, race, and identity through artistic methods of reflection and creation. It is open to South Asian womxn aged 14 . The workshop begins with ‘Shades of Brown Girl’, a solo theatre show created by Amrita Kumar-Ratta. The piece, which uses associations with colour to turn intimate details of about growing up with brown skin in Canada into a powerful message of healing and inspiration, is used as the starting point for important conversations around race, culture, and gender as experienced by young South Asian womxn. Come and explore creative ways to share your story! Get involved in creative storytelling beyond this workshop! The possibilities for creative self-expression are endless.
