Dec 15, 1944. New York. Come inside the iconic Savoy Ballroom hopping with the music of the swing era. The swing band, Dock Side Drive and radio personality Owen Searle recreate a live radio broadcast of the night Glenn Miller died fighting in WWII. Feel that connection to history through the swinging sounds of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, the Andrews' Sisters, Irving Berlin, Nat King Cole, and more.
Audiences won't want to miss the chance to see and hear this ensemble perform well-known swing, blues, jazz, and show tunes. It's guaranteed that audience members will be swingin' and singin' along! Bandleader, Heather Burns said, "Dock Side Drive is looking forward to bringing our show to Surrey for the first time. We hope to bring a little of the iconic style and energy of the dance halls and the radio shows of the swing era, infused with the modern sound and energy that is our band.
It will be the perfect time to bring the music of the '40s to life on stage, having just had Remembrance Day, and the show is an opportunity to think about all the sacrifices, people, and stories that came out of that era."
Individual tickets are online now at tickets.surrey.ca or from the box office at 604-501-5566 and cost from $24 - $39.
