The home of Cloverdale Library, Museum of Surrey and Surrey Archives has been a site of constant change.

On Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Surrey Archives will host it’s first talk of the fall season at the Museum of Surrey, providing a unique opportunity for the public to explore the site as it transitioned into the dynamic heritage precinct of today. This Archives talk will feature archival photos, documents and reminiscences.

“Over the past 100 yeas, this site has seen constant change: it’s been the site of homes, a school, municipal hall, police administration, a library, seniors centre, a place of commemoration,” said Chelsea Bailey, archivist at the Surrey Archives located in Cloverdale on the north side of Highway 10 at 17671 56 Ave.

“Our Archives talk are a great opportunity for the public to get familiar with Archives, the records we preserve and provide access to, and the stories that those records tell. Whether you’re a newcomer to the area, a student or a long-time resident, these free talks are a great way to learn about celebrate Surrey’s diverse history.”

The recently expanded museum anchors the Heritage Campus, which includes the 1912 Municipal Hall (now the Surrey Archives), the Cloverdale Library (currently undergoing a renovation), Veteran’s Square and Cenotaph, as well as the iconic Anderson Cabin, the historic Anniedale School and the 1881 Town Hall.
