Surrey, BC – Surrey Art Gallery Association (SAGA) invites local artists and the community to a Competitive Sketch Off at Surrey Art Gallery on October 19 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.

In this action-packed evening of friendly competition, 12 professional artists will face off in four timed rounds using sketching materials. The audience will vote for their favorite artist after each round. Over the course of the evening, audience members will get a behind-the-scenes look at how artists plan and execute their work. Those who want to gain hands-on experience can also participate in a sketching lesson. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part.

“In celebration of Surrey Art Gallery Association’s 35th anniversary this year, we wanted to host a high-energy event, fun for everyone,” says Melissa Burgher, SAGA Vice-President. “This Sketch Off showcases the talents of local artists who are also SAGA members, as well as brings together artists and art fans in Surrey.”

Following the competition, artists can choose to keep their sketches or sell them through the Surrey Art Gallery Association’s Art Rental Program. Artists interested in participating in this event can find eligibility criteria and an application form at Applications are due October 4.
