Fortis BC Rebates On New Furnaces And Water Heaters

Fortis BC is currently offering impressive rebates on new space and water heating systems. These include new furnaces, boilers, hot water tanks, tankless water heaters, and more.

Furnaces heat most homes in BC. Older furnaces can be as little as 65% efficient, meaning that 35% of the heat produced is lost out the chimney. Instead of heating up air and blowing it through your home like a furnace, a boiler heats water instead. This water is then distributed through lines in the floor as part of a radiant heating system, or through radiators around the edge of the home as part of a baseboard heating system.

Some new boilers, called “combination boilers” can provide hot water for both space heating and tap water, replacing both your current boiler and hot water tank. When you install a new combination boiler, you can receive a rebate of up to $1500. Click here for details.

Most homes in BC have a hot water tank which keeps a store of hot water for use. You can get a Fortis BC rebate of $200 when you install an Energy Star hot water tank (as always, conditions apply). These tanks use less energy since they have a valve that closes off the vent when the tank is not in use, preventing heat from being wasted. Click here for details.

Tankless water heaters produce hot water as you use it. They never run out of hot water, although a limited amount can be provided at any time. Since a store of hot water is not always being kept even when you aren’t using any, tankless systems are typically more efficient than tanks. You can receive a Fortis BC rebate of up to $1000 when you install a high efficiency water heater.
