Surrey Libraries Enhancing eBook and eAudiobook Collections

Surrey, BC – Surrey Libraries is making it faster and easier for residents to access eBooks and eAudiobooks. Since the library branch closure in mid-March to help stop the spread of the Corona virus, use of the eBook collection has exploded.

To support the demand, Surrey Libraries has increased the size of its Superloan collection by 35% in the past two weeks alone. The Superloan collection now has more than 1,200 titles and includes a wide variety of diverse and inclusive titles from the most popular fiction and non-fiction genres and are instantly available – no holds and no waiting.

This includes classic titles like Animal Farm by George Orwell, the latest book club picks such Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of America by Robert Kolker, back catalogue titles of authors with popular new releases such N.K. Jemison, and so much more.

For families looking to read and learn together, Surrey Libraries has also added over 125 junior and young adult titles to the Superloan collection. These titles include volumes from many popular ongoing series such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Babysitters Club, Warriors, Dog Man, and junior and young adult graphic novels such as New Kid by Jerry Craft.

There are also some great curated book lists that parents can use to keep their kids engaged and help them manage their anxiety such as Keep Calm & Carry on For Kids and Activity Books for Kids.

For those who like reading more than one book at a time, 2 eBook Superloan titles can be checked out at a time. For non-Superloan titles, wait times have decreased more than ten per cent as additional copies are being added to the collection to help address the increased demand.No library card? No problem!
