ADOPT A STREET VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Show your civic pride!

The ADOPT A STREET program is a litter cleanup program that you can join to show your civic pride and make Surrey an even better community to live in. The program encourages businesses, community groups, schools, block clubs and other parts of the community to work together with the City of Surrey to help keep our environment clean and beautiful.

Your group can “ADOPT” a specific site or section of road, pledging to keep it free of trash and debris. As a participant, you’ll work under the guidance of the Engineering Operations Division.

We’ll get you set up with Clean City information kits, including safety guidelines and basic litter pick up equipment. We will even acknowledge your volunteer group’s efforts with a personalized Adopt-A-Street sign along your adopted street!

Urban Safari Rescue Society

Urban Safari Rescue Society is planning our Annual Fundraiser/Open House/AGM on August 23. We need to clean up and stage the area for the Bouncy Castle, Farm Animal Petting Zoo, Picnic area etc

We’re looking for 10 – 20 volunteers to come and help with weeding, raking, staging and other yard work. It’s a one day event. If you can only commit to a couple of hours, we’ll welcome any time you can give us. Volunteers will need proper footwear, sunscreen, hats and water.

Tynehead Hatchery

Interested in learning and teaching others the importance of restoring and maintaining our Pacific Salmon population? Want to gain some valuable hands-on experience to pursue a career in the ecological field? Volunteer at the Tynehead Hatchery!

Volunteers have a very important job, as the entire hatchery is volunteer-operated! Most volunteers choose to pay membership dues to the Serpentine Enhancement Society. The tasks they perform include teaching classes of elementary school students, running workshops for citizens, and of course participating in egg takes and the raising/releasing of salmon fry, as well as work and feeding shifts.

Aquatic debris is one of the biggest threats currently facing our oceans and waterways. Fortunately, this is a problem that we can tackle hands-on. By participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, you can actually see the impact you’ve had over the course of a single day.

Becoming a Site Coordinator – Becoming a Participant | Interested in contributing to the Shoreline Cleanup, but limited on time? Or, would you like to meet new people while doing something meaningful? Whatever the reason, becoming a cleanup participant is an easy, fun way to get outside, meet other locals, and make a difference. There are many cleanups that would love to have an extra pair of hands on their team.

RCMP | Volunteer Opportunities

The Surrey RCMP recognizes the valuable contribution of volunteers in the delivery of community programs and services. The special talents, skills and abilities that volunteers bring to the table are integral to the success of our community policing and crime prevention programming.

There are three basic streams of volunteer opportunities available at the Surrey RCMP:

Auxiliary Constable Program
Auxiliary Constables are uniformed volunteers under the command of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Restorative Justice (RJ) Program
The Restorative Justice Program is a volunteer based program that supports youth by encouraging them to understand the effects of the harm they have done and provides them with opportunities to make amends. It provides alternatives to youth involvement in the formal court process of the criminal justice system by way of extra-judicial measures.

District Office Volunteers
District volunteers assist members and staff with many administrative duties and front counter services, but may also participate in various crime prevention programs that operate from these offices, like Block Watch, Speed Watch, Stolen Auto Recovery Program and volunteer bike patrols.
