What’s Happening at the Stewart Farm in October

Summer is over, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Take advantage of the beautiful Fall weather we’ve been having and get out to the Historic Stewart Farm for a visit. Tours are available for ‘first timers’ and a variety of programs are taking place throughout October. Make the Fall colours come alive and enjoy one of Surrey’s historic sites! Here’s what’s happening this month:

Historic Stewart Farm Tours:

Tour the charming restored 1894 farmhouse, pole barn and heritage gardens, try old-fashioned crafts, take part in a program or special event, and imagine pioneer life at the turn of the 19th century.

Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10am-4pm, Saturday, 12noon-4pm. Entrance by donation.

Exhibition: From Field to Table: The Pioneer Kitchen Garden Revival

The traditional pioneer kitchen garden is the subject of this exhibition. Explore growing, preparing and serving food and learn about culinary history from seed selection to harvesting. Explore food and drink, recipes and home remedies and view a variety of kitchen gadgets. Learn how the food revival has inspired communities to work together to become more sustainable.
On display September 15-November 3
Open: Fridays, 10:00am-4:00pm; Saturdays, 12noon-4:00pm, and by appointment

Tea and Tour

Costumed guides will stroll with you through the charming 1890s farmhouse and grounds. Check out the new exhibit ‘From Field to Table’ in the Stewart Hall then enjoy tea and treats.

Veggie Fables

Learn about the garden in a fun, new way! Tour the ‘From Field to Table’ exhibit, create your own garden story, build a character out of fresh vegetables and take home your own recipe book.

All Hallows Eve

Discover bewitching beginnings! Learn about the origins of Halloween, play games from long ago and create a spooky (or not) mask to take home. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956.

Haunted Farm

Something creepy is cooking in the farmhouse. The barn has been taken over by ghosts! Wear your costume and join us for a fun and spooky guided tour through the Historic Stewart Farm.
